Designed for safer, more comfortable sleep
A sleep sack can help keep your baby covered without using loose blankets in the sleep space. For safer use:
- Place baby on their back (or side) for every sleep.
- Use the correct size for your baby’s weight and height.
- Check that the neck and arm openings fit securely and that baby’s head cannot slip through.
- Make sure the sleep sack cannot cover baby’s face.
- Do not use the sleep sack if it no longer fits correctly.
- Check baby’s chest or back regularly for signs of overheating. Hands and feet may feel cool and are not the best indicator of body temperature.
- Remove layers if baby feels hot, sweaty, flushed or unusually restless.
How should baby be dressed underneath?
The correct clothing depends on the room temperature, your baby and the clothing fabric. As a general guide, a 1.0 TOG sleep sack may be worn over a lightweight short-sleeve or long-sleeve bodysuit in a warm room.
Use this as a starting point, not a substitute for checking your baby. Room temperatures can vary significantly between regions and homes in South Africa, so dress baby according to the actual temperature of the sleeping room
